Lots of locks and stuff going on there. Do you need extra security?

I would paint the door and the security door the same color--I love the color Red Rock by Benjamin Moore--so that the bars don't glare out at you. You might need two types of paint--one for exterior wood and another for metal. A large doormat with some color in it and some kind of art piece in wood on the wall to the left of the door might also warm it up. A big planter (maybe a red glazed pot) on the right hand side next to the house with a winter planting of a small evergreen tree or shrubs would work through the winter until you can landscape along the front walk and you could decorate it for the holidays. A green wreath would look great on the red door.

Will assume you don't need to keep either of these doors and don't need security in your area. You have overhang to protect from weather, so simply replace the core door with a new iinsulated metal or a solid wood one in a style without a window (just a peephole.) A nice door mat, a new light fixture, and for fall, a mix of different colored mums in the bed that runs along the wall. I don't think you have room on the porch for much decor, but you have some nice areas to landscape next, so remember that bulbs go in the ground in fall for bloom next spring. Visit a nursery in your area for help on planning for a spring showstopper at your new home. Another project you might undertake is to paint the downspouts to match the body of the house so they don't outline it and make it appear boxy. Enjoy your home!

i would build a nice front deck/porch, and help make that door not feel so inset. maybe add some shutters to match the door color, or white would be nice. and get yourself some ever green shrubs. for the blah winter months.

I like this idea, however, I would not paint the shutters this bright blue... Go with a black to match the other trim.
