If this is for a kitchen, I would be cautious about using it throughout, as it is awfully dark. Unless you use a great deal of canned lighting supplemented by pendants or a chandelier, and under cabinet lighting, you may find this too dark for everyday use. Do you live on the West Coast? If not, keep in mind the decreased lighting you will have in the winter months. You might want to look at a granite with more "motion" and lighter colors in addition to this shade. Any mica in the granite will help to reflect light further. Are you having this granite polished or honed? You will need to bounce light from your surfaces to lighten the room. Do you have a reflective surface in a light color elsewhere in the room?

Ahhh, Maroon Cohiba, by far my favorite among dark granites. The above comments are true, it may be dark. Is there a way you can post pics of your space? It isn't unheard to put dark granite throughout a kitchen so it can work in some instances. The shade of your oak makes a difference as well. No stain only poly, golden, reds, browns? The Maroon Cohiba is described as brown but it can cast a "raisin" tone in the right lighting. Hope that helps!

Here is a picture of my kitchen. Tell me if my granite choice is too dark. Going to add stainless steel appliances. Island is being removed and I'm adding a floating island to sit around in the area by patio door.

Beautiful granite but way too dark for this kitchen. But now you say you are putting in an island, what color will it be? If you make the island a very light color you could use this on the island only.
