My sister did the same thing in her Spanish Colonial home in La Canada and she used only Santa Barbara tiles. I had to look twice to make sure it wasn't her staircase.

Birdrockmom- I LOVE your staircase! We are building a home and our staircase steps are curved, can you do this on a steps that are curved?

With a good tile installer you should. See the bottom step is curved out.

Could you tell me if your walls are plaster or drywall? If drywall did you use a rounded corner? Thx

It is drywall with rounded corners. Easier and still an authentic look.
