Help with color flow
November 10, 2012 in Design Dilemma
I'm in the process of painting...well pretty much every room....just because. I've decided on navy or drk teal, bright white, and orange. I just don't know how to carry the colors throughout our house. We have a split level.

Living room-foyer-kitchen-and former dining room(I've made it a foyer to the back door) are all connected in a "loop"
Downstairs- is light blue(between Tiffany blue & robin egg) with white trim. A full brick wall with a fireplace. Prob going to leave this alone.
Thank you!!!

With the robin's egg blue (if you and I are on the same page on the blue) downstairs, which you say you will keep and is probably visible from the rest of the house, I suggest on the walls BM 1617 cheating heart which has a grey undertone and not really a navy at all. Instead of a true orange, try a more apricot color or a deep watermelon pink for your accents in the living room and BM white dove for your trim a semi-gloss and in a flat for your ceilings.

For the dark teal scheme, how about BM twilight 2058-10 which gives you both the navy experience, but definitely a teal. With that try BM 063, pennies from heaven for your coral.

Awesome thanks a bunch!!
Just an FYI...just in case....the brick wall/fireplace is really all you see from upstairs & you have to lean way over to see it.

Would a dark teal work for you, or would you prefer a navy?

My favorite orange is an easy to live with one: Sherwin-Williams SW6353 Chivalry Copper. I have used it with trim painted SW2841 Weathered Shingle and also with an off white trim.

For a teal, I like SW2811 Rockwood Blue Green.

Y'all are great with these paint colors! Thanks!
Oh no I'd love to do dark teal ..doesn't have to be navy. I am just loving that contrast with the white.
