Ideas for how to mount a rolling ladder and rail in my kitchen
kagrossNovember 13, 2012
My above counter kitchen cabinets are very high and extend up all the way to the ceiling. How can I mount a rolling ladder rail and allow them to still open if they run all the way to the ceiling?

I would think you will have to modify the upper cabinets to make sure there is room over the top of the doors for the rail. Can you post a pic?

I don't have a pic as I just bout the condo and close mid Dec. but I just looked again at online pics and it looks like I might have about 4 inches of space above the tops of the cabinets. Here is a link where there are pictures. http://www.realestate.com.au/property-apartment-qld-teneriffe-110962919 i want the ladder rail to go around the corner into the hallway so when not in use, the ladder can be against the hallway wall and not in the small kitchen. I live in Australia (but am American) and think finding a local vendor to do this will be tough.

Here is an interesting design where the track becomes a display shelve.

If you are in the Minneapolis area, there is currently one on Craigslist - search "library ladder"
