White subway tile backsplash
November 14, 2012 in Design Dilemma
what are the pros and cons of a white tile backsplash, is it really practical. It looks beautiful but is it functional, hard to keep clean?

White subway tile is one of those timeless design elements and it doesn't require any more maintenance than other types of tile, especially if they have a glossy surface.

The look is beautiful, trying to convice my husband that the grout wont discolor with wear and cleaning, is there a sealer that needs to be applied to keep it from staining? Thanks for your help! Very much appreciated!

We have installed them in kitchens that get a great deal of use and it works fine. BUT, we take extra care and seal the grout up front with a quality sealer. We put on 2-3 coats of sealer until the grout no longer absorbs any more. Reseal in 3-5 years to keep it looking good. We use a product that I think is called Hertro Seal.

We did white subway tiles in. Home we just built and used dark grout to complement the dark grey walls throughout the kitchen. Turned out great
