Houzz is the new way to design your home.
How define a sunken area for safety...
November 19, 2012 in Design Dilemma
Hello! The foyer of our new home is open on one side to our formal dining room. The formal dining is a about a 4 inch step down and I want to ensure my guests notice the step for safety reasons. The dining room is hardwood. Should I do a tile in the foyer to make the distinction of the differing floors and heights obvious, or should I just put hardwood in the entry, just have it in a different direction or pattern? My preference would be chevron hardwoods in the foyer, but I'm willing to take one for the team to not have people missing the step all the time. What do you think?
