Need help on what to put on walls between windows..
Not sure how I should decorate the walls between windows. Thought about some large candle sconces. Round? Rectangle. Thanks for any help!

Aja Mazin I like it!

Bobbie S I like the curtain idea. Maybe 2 panel coming down where walls are?

Shahina Put 2 tall oil paintings of your choice on both sides of the middle window. This will give the room sophistication and life or you can put some framed favourite photographs which will give informal atmosphere around the room. It all depends on how you want to use the place. Can you move the sofa further away from TV. This will make the room look bigger. Good luck !

houssaon Another option to oil paintings, is framed posters. Look at allposter.com.

Shahina Czone can also go for Indonesian wooden art works or any Chinese lacquered tall paintings. Framed posters is good but too casual for a living or family room .

Bobbie S This is the room before we moved in. I'm trying to get my hubby to move tv to another wall. I love the Indonesian/ Indian warm colors dark woods. Didn't really want to deal with curtains. So many options!!

judyg Decals…not necessarily these, but some that will come off each window.
Birds and Branches Wall Decals

This idea is clever with the branches applied as if coming from the vase.MH3

careclare Great light, love the floors and blinds. Many sconces are mostly colonial or Tuscan. I think a small collection of items between windows...say two in one space, and three on the other, which include an accent color, greens for complement, or peach for staying in color range of the sofa, or both together in a vertical placement to keep the vertical line of the windows. Make it stuff you like looking at. Florals, scenery, photos matted in the accent colors..simple, contemporary frames. A collection would accent the space, bring a little color and softness to that wall without making to large statement, but I wouldn't go too dark. You already have colonial accent with the stair railing, modern with the electronics, and transitional with the sofa style, so might be good to avoid other strong styles. I don't know what Indonesian is. I like the pale yellow walls with the warmth of the red sofa. If you were looking for softness on the wall, drapes which, when open, would fold up to about 6-8 inches wide in the same color as the wall would give soft texture without closing it in or cluttering up the clean lines, and complement the blinds. On the other hand, drapes with reds in it might mean you don't even need wall accents in the between-the-window-spaces.

olldbobbi I hate to say this because it will go right to her head, but judyg's decal idea is great. [houzz=

feeny Not every empty space needs to be filled. The empty spaces set off the symmetry of the windows nicely. But I do think you need to declutter some of the floor space around them and arrange the furniture more effectively. You are cutting off half of the room with the sofa placement.

Bobbie S Feeny I agree. Exactly what I said to hubby.

Bobbie S What do you guys think about this?
Aja Mazin WOW!
Bobbie S You think that could work with my windows in original photo? I would use lighter drapes though.
I love this sconce. Eventually I will purchase new furniture. Probably with a chocolate color.

Aja Mazin Do you really feel that you need drapes?

lefty47 HI -- I think the room NEEDS drapes ! The drapes wll fill out the wall and ground the room and give the room a more finished look.

standinginline The sconces look good, but I actually think they may be a little fussy, if that makes any sense. I think may work best if your wall were a darker shade...maybe with some sort of grass-like wallpaper treatment (going with the exotic theme). Hmm...I would say tv on the opposite wall from the windows, couch facing the tv, and I think I could see two bamboo plants between your windows (tall and thin). The sconces are nice though, so I wouldn't rule them out completely, just not sure about right between those windows.

Bobbie S At first I didn't. I liked it clean. The model home has drapes and it looks really good and adds some softness. If that makes sense.

nhmorris43 I like the drapes idea with one rod, leaving the drapes at each end of the rod. Will hold the wall together and won't be so disjointed.

Bobbie S Here is a window in the model. @standing unlike. I get it. We haventvoaknted yet because the builder will come fix nail pops
and such before a year is up. I def plan a darker Colorado. Not too dark but Color.

I am trying to get my husband to move the tube! To exacltly the position you suggested. That way there are more options. Thanks for all the help! I am addicted yo this site.

Bobbie S So only 2 panels? For drapes.

Bobbie S Sorry supposed to say "haven't painted yet"

decoenthusiaste Drapes, drapes and more drapes - the room is still cold and hard even with the warm colors. Too many squares and rectangles and no curves Think soft and comforting. The nice windows are just hiding behind blinds right now. Would like to see the side opposite the windows. Might be a spot for a corner build in for the TV.

patty526 2 arm chairs, with side table in front of center window and pull sofa back a bit. A lamp on side table, and something lovely..abstract, pastel in black lacquer frames above both chairs. Angle chairs toward each other, and with pulling sofa out the room should feelntwicevas big with another seating area. Maybe panels on the outsides of the end windows, for both softness and definition .

greengirl I might paint the window wall the same color as the shades. Then add panels at each side just to soften the look, maybe in a lighter color.

Btw, I don't know how old you are or how long you've been married, but FWIW I learned a long time ago that if I keep asking my husband what he wants, I'll never get what I want. Once I realized my gut was right, at least in decor certainly not in picking sports teams, I just did it myself. He may have complained once in 33 years about my choices as I always thought about him too. That means move the damn TV. He'll get over it and you'll BOTH be happy.

Bobbie S What color drapes?

nomadkath I think painting all the living room walls a warmer slightly darker tone would make the room cozier, and the window blinds stand out less.......think about pulling in your Indian warm colors idea. I like the tall plant....I'd get a couple more tall plants....or interesting plants on stands.......or tall branches or grasses in Asian style heavy floor vase....... to put between the windows. Then think about the room arrangement....or at least pull the couch back --then re-evaluate.

Bobbie S Thanks!

I am waiting to paint the walls because the builder will come back close to a year and patch any settlement cracks etc..

Hopefully moving furniture around this weekend. I tried one night and it looked much better! But need to transfer tv to other wall. First and second pics are new positions.

4th is old.
