outdoor room suggestion

We moved onto the water in FL - only thing, during winter with a North wind, the deck and backyard are not usable. Gusts can be up to 30 mph at times. Are there are unique and not to expensive ideas? I was thinking privacy fence with sliding doors which we could open when the winds die down.
Thanks

Here is one idea that keeps the wind out but doesn't obstruct the view.

hey corporatecowgirl,
glass will work for sure might be quite expensive though, if your going to put up some kind of structure to hold it consider clear PVC as an option as well there are some good systems that roll away, cleaning glass or PVC will be a curse, plumb hot water to the area if you do either of these options, salt washes off with warm water.
if you do the glass consider how you can swing or slide it open when you do want breezes as well

good luck cheers adrian
