Staining terra cotta floor tiles

threinmillerNovember 26, 2012
I'm considering staining our 20 year old terra cotta floor tiles. Does anyone have any useful information? i.e. products to use, durability of color, successful or not so successful techniques?

threinmiller, is there a specific reason why you want to stain your tiles? Terra cotta is becoming fashionable again... Sorry, I have no experience with staining them :(

Hi Cynthia, we like the terra cotta, but they are bait too scratched, or "distressed" as is the fashionable term. I was thinking if I could stain them a bit darker it might mask some of the scratches and cracks.
