How do you choose accent colors for a room?

One way is to use 'opposing temperatures.' For instance, as in this photo, if your walls are painted with a cool color such as blue or green, use warm accents like yellow, red or orange -- and vice versa. You'll create an interesting space where all the colors stand out.
