Bye, bye 1963!

Some called it "cozy", but I was thrilled to say "bye-bye" to our paneled family room and dated brick fireplace. It wasn't a bad project at all, and it is so rewarding when you do all the work yourselves!

Did you install the lighting behind the crown moulding yourself too? Real cool.

Yep. It is poly crown with a molded channel for rope lights. We just had to add an electrical box behind it so we could plug them in. It looks awesome--especially at night.

HI -- Great Job ! This just shows people should not be afraid to remove that old paneling . Did you find any problems with the electrical or anything hidden behind the old paneling ?

No problems at all. Plus, it gave us the opportunity to put in some upgraded insulation. Win-win!

Is that LED or regular rope lighting inside the crown?

We thought we would need a dimmer so it appeared to be easier with regular rope lights. As it turned out, we didn't need one at all as the level of light is really where we would want it.
