Need help on the exterior!
November 29, 2012 in Design Dilemma
We just bought our very first home and while we love this home the outside is in need of some TLC. Any suggestions? I just can't get over how bland it is.

How much money are you willing to put into it? If possible, my suggestions would be to replace the garage door and window shutters with something more up-to-date, adding a fresh coat of paint and some flower beds to bring some color in.

It won't be a high budget but something along the lines 8,000 on the upper end. I think a slash of colour would really help! and ya those little windows on the door don't even match!

I had a similar garage door when I moved in. The fan windows on the door were just plastic inserts that pulled off. You could try to pop them out and have just plain windows on your garage door. That would be a cheap fix.

I would then paint your garage door a darker color close to the brick color so it blends in more and puts more attention on your front entry. A light gray color for your upper siding might look good. Paint your shutters a black or dark gray - something close to your roof color.
