First time builders on a budget

Someone please help us! My husband and I are first time builders on a budget. We are having a difficult time deciding on our exterior. We have picked out a thin veneer stone but can't decide between red brick or a brown tone. Any suggestions?

HI -- Without any pictures to go by pick either the darkest or the lightest color from the stone vaneer. The red brick is too risky for me to comment on because I don't know what the vaneer looks like . Not a fan of red brick with stone vaneer. Thats all I can say right now .

Completely agree with lefty47, brown tones tend to stay in 'trend' and timeless compared with red tones, especially for exterior, which could be quite costly to update.

Thank you so much for your comments. I attached two images of the two different stones we are deciding between to use.

Between the two, I prefer the one on the right. Just for my tastes, I like a stacked stone look much like the photo Dytecture posted. What is the style of home you're building? Were you planning on using the veneer over the entire exterior or just as accents?

We are using stone and brick but are unable to afford doing the whole home in either material. We still are trying to choose a brick and stucco that will look good with the stone. We also need help deciding where to put the materials. Any suggestions? This is our home so far

You have a lovely home! I think you might have one too many building materials for the exterior. Maybe stick with stucco and stone or brick and stucco, but all 3 will be too busy. Definitely do the entrance in stone.

Found this drawing that might give some inspiration. Where they have siding, you could do stucco.

Thank you so much for the suggestions! Love the attached image. The only thing that is making us nervous about just stone is that it's a pretty neutral color. I guess with the stucco color it adds a bit more dimension

Exactly! Go several shades darker with the stucco than the stone and you'll have a nice contrast.

A nice cocoa color or a light milk chocolate would be nice.
