Redoing backyard/pool area

To make it more dog friendly, we need to redo the tiled backyard - any suggestions? Pull tiles up? Artificial grass? Ease of installing real grass? Thanks for any ideas

if you can post a picture it might make it easier to advise. Can you pull up a "tile"? Knowing what is underneath would be a great starting starting place. If there is 6" of sand and gravel it will take a lot of work to do turf.

Sorry- this is my first time using the site, it's really awesome. Attached are photos. We didn't build the house but it is fairly new construction 2003. Not sure what's under the tiles but there was major land reclamation to form the sloping of the site.

Bit of additional info, we've been advised we must remove the palm trees due to cracking planters and we have a fairly large pool house that we never use... Perhaps some opportunities ??

Re Til
There is concrete under the tiles.

I'm afraid the decorative tiles suggested won't be very useful to the new dog...but thanks!

Thanks so much for your response. My suggestion for decorative tiles would be as applied to the vertical surfaces - in or around the pool or on blank house walls, not for the patio.
