Refinishing 1920's Pine Wood Floors
We are refinishing existing pine floors, very narrow 2 l/2" in width and are very yellow/orange in color. We have painted the interior walls BM Anew Gray with Shell White trim and this color floors will not work. What stain color would be recommended to give a darker, but not too dark, walnut looking finish?

decoenthusiaste Yellow pine will be difficult to change. If you are not authentically restoring the home, you might consider painting the floors with floor paint. You can try to darken them but if it doesn't work, changing the paint color would be the other option. Search the box above for painted floor under Photos to get some ideas.

feeny Is this too light for you? I think it is a beautiful shade for pine:

feeny Here's an ideabook on different types of wood floors. They discuss three different types of pine and which ones take stains better.
