My client had the lamp when we started the project. There is a good chance it is a "Champleve' " lamp made in Japan c1900-1920. The base was an addition by a local lamp shop, as is the shade, which is leather.
Most Champleve' lamps are darker in color and no two are alike. My local resource for these lamps is Stuf Antiques in downtown Asheville, N.C. Their phone number is 828 254 4054.

Thanks so much for your quick response. Oh my goodness! I have an urn exactly like that, but never knew what it was called. Do you know how I would go about having a lamp made out of it or should I just keep it as an urn?

Where do you live? If you are in a town of any size, there should be a shop that sells lamp shades and turns various objects into lamps.

Oh, you should have no problem finding a good resource there. If you love the base of the lamp in my client's great room, you might show that photo to your resource in NY. An important thing to consider is how tall your lamp needs to be for the space you have in mind.
