Our "hearth" area is part of the kitchen and dinette area in our house. This little area is 99% of our time and our house is 4200sf! I don't know how to best utilize it so we can fit comfortably and don't know what kind of a coffee table to use. The one pictured here is glass and just isn't practical for this high traffic area... There are enough colors here I feel... don't need to add more it would just be too much!! HELP!
Shawn Lagemann Glass is not a bad option in a small space. Because you can see through it it visually does not take up space. This coffee table's design is flimsy. The area could use a rug to define it and it looks as if you could use more light. You could alco use some more surface area for drinks etc. How about a small trunk that can house TV blankets or games on one end of the sofa. A narrow sofa table with a lamp on the rear of the sofa would be great, and even a small end table with a lamp between the sofa nd a chair. Look for a glass coffee table that is more substancial. Look at Pottery Barns website at the Tanner coffee tables, cubes, and accent/sofa tables. These tables are very heavy and won't be knocked over easily, the cube style can be used grouped together in 2 or 4. For your space 2 would be good. Look into a rug, they are warm underfoot, define the space nad keep furniture from sliding around. After you pick a rug, throw a couple of pillows into the mix and a throw over the arm of the sofa.
