Curb appeal
We have painted the exit or gray, plan to paint front door black in spring. What would you do if this were your house?

lilhoffy99 I meant exterior gray. Also thinking of doin something like crown molding to make it link richer.

decoenthusiaste If it were mine, I'd change out the window with the arch. It it too small in scale and appears to be too low where it is mounted. The door dwarfs it. Any self-respecting arch would be above the door frame. I would put in a single or double window that matches the quad window on the left. I would eliminate the white detail around the two lights flanking the garage door. It just draws attention to a mis-sized feature. Instead, install big lanterns that carry the volume of the detail. Might go for some bling with metal lanterns - brushed nickel maybe. I would also eliminate the garage door windows. You may be able to simply replace that section of panel. Can't see the landscaping but would probably plant a Japanese red maple out in front of the entry section. Would take out the two clumpy bushes unless they are azaleas or something that will be pretty with a bit of care and pruning. The black door will probably look sharp, but I'm sure you'll get some suggestions for red and a few other colors.

Katherine Marle_Moberg I see you left the window trim on the garage door white, I would paint it out, also the edge trim. I would paint the inside areas of the light niches the trim color, and I would suggest a bright red door or a bright blue door instead of black. The front door should stand out and welcome you. Black is easy with grey, but a color will be more attractive.

houssaon I agree that the arched window is not right and should be replaced. Also agree that the white trim aound the garage lights should be gray. I like windows on garage doors, but again not the white trim around them.

How about yellow for your front door? Look at Hannah Banana Paint. Or a red, like these: Benjamin Moore Brick Red 2084-10 Ben Paint or Tea Paint

The driveway is really massive. How about reducing the width to about four inches on each side beyond the garage door and edging it with Belgian block?New Canaan Greek Revival I would tie that into a new curvy walkway in bluestone. French Country Garden

Add landscaping away from the foundation of the house. Howard Roberts. Add a bed in the yard with an ornamental tree as the feature surrounded by evergreen, varigated and burgundy plants.

Here is a planting from Minglewood designs, that might work depending on your region: Riverfront Garden. Riverfront garden with fescue-lawn path and regionally native plants including oak-leaf hydrangea, new hampshire purple geranium, creeping juniper, coreopsis, rudbeckia and blue-eyed grass. These gardens require minimal water and maintenance and they offer seasonal variation, color and food for local birds and butterflies."
