explain the mechanism that holds/ raises? the glass behind cooktop

How was the glass secured? Does it raise or is it stationary?

thanks for the question.... its made by Valcucine, in soho. As best as I can describe it... the metal arms hold the glass shield in place. The shield can retract up somewhat- the purpose is to not create a visual block- hence the glass. The shape of the glass directs any flow of steam, etc, from the burners located beneath it (not really visible in this photo), upwards towards the ventilation system.
