Hello! After getting a bid on a full kitchen remodel we're now considering more of an update. Instead of a built-in peninsula and moving the sink, dishwasher and other costly things, I'm thinking of adding a free standing island. But what would I put behind the island between the end of the countertop and the window? Just have the countertop run all along that wall? Will it look weird to just have that end at the window?

This pic shows a steel table in place, that would be centered and be a more robust free-standing island with seating and cabinets.
