TanCalGal The stained cabinets are darker than white cabinets. White cabinets might make the kitchen appear lighter. I think stained cabinets are beautiful. Some might think they are "too dark".

Not sure of the tone of your floors (or cabinets). Do U have a link? There is Gunstock maple? Gunstock oak?
I like cherry cabinets to match the floors or have the floors slightly darker than the cherry cabinets. There are different stains of cherry, too. Is your cherry cabinet dark? Light? Medium? Link?

yvesun To answer your question regarding bamboo....Bamboo is considered a renewable source because it grows like a grass. The region's (China & Japan) in which it is grown has been hit hard in recent years due to Earthquakes and mud slides. 3/4 of the bamboo forests were destroyed and are becoming more scarce. Panda's are on the extinction list because they are starving due to the above and because of the boom in Bamboo sales.

Hardwood will last forever!! Have you consdiered Cork as an alternative?
