how would you layout a 3 piece bathroom, (shower, toliet and sink) in a room that is 5 ft wide by 8 ft long with the door on one side of a 5ft wall.

Here is one with exact measurement. Notice the lack of shower door that is on purpose.

The most logical way is how you describe it with the shower in the back, toilet in the middle and the vanity as you walk in the bathroom.

I went back into my records and I did have a bit more length than you. so you will need to do a 24" sink 32"for the toilet{that is code in my area) the rest is shower. Obviously it is the full width of the room.

Sink, toilet ,shower on one side. Shelving, cabinets, floor to ceiling mirror or mosaic on the the opposite wall. For the sink, use a salvaged piece of furniture and spend your money on a nice sink and quality hardware.

I think the glass wall in lory's pics give a more open feel to a smal space
