Lucky you! Have you considered white marble or engineered quartz?

What exactly do you intend to do? Start over? Keep part of the kitchen? Just new countertops? I'd love to help but I'm not sure what you're looking to do. Pictures would really help too.

We are trying to decide what to do...my gut feeling tells me to keep the heart pine cabinets and work with them in some way .. That is to remove old hardware and maybe put some type of glaze on them to bring them up to date. I am not sure I want to completely tear out the whole kitchen and start over. We are kid free and have all the appliances we need .

Why do you want to "upgrade"?

If you have authentic heart pine cabinets, like your appliances, and the layout works, then it ain't broke, so don't fix it! Sounds like you just need new countertops, hardware, and maybe refinish the wood cabinetry. I'm not fond of glazes--they seem kind of fake and can make the cabinets look dirty in the grooves!

Often an overlooked element in situations like this is lighting. Are you happy with the quantity, quality and decorative aspects of the current lighting.

It doesn't sound like you need to do anything. You have beautiful original heart pine cabinets and everyone thinks your kitchen looks beautiful, why would you want to change it? I don't think the Corian counters necessarily need updating either, unless you don't like them or the color seems wrong for the space.
