onthefence I have no experience with any of the 3 companies you've mentioned. However, have you priced replacement vs 'regular" installed windows? Sorry, I can't think of what they're called!
We did replacement windows by Alcan about 15 years ago. We lost a substantial amount of glass area due to the enlarged frames. And about 7 years after the install, the largest window developed a leak between the dual pane. We ended up RE-replacing all windows in the house with Milgard. The first round was a hideous waste of $$ for us.
Sorry to be a Debbie Downer....but I'll never do replacement windows in a home again.
Deborah Butler, Brickwood Builders The only type of replacement windows we would do is where you replace the whole window - not the vinyl hatchet jobs that others do and end up with the large frame as mentioned above. A quality job is worth the money and keeps the home original looking.
Having said that, I have not used them, but know others that like Simonton.
