Pantry pullout versus drawers in pantry

I'm redoing my kitchen and was planning on moving my fridge over and having two separate pantry pullouts on either side. The type where the whole pantry comes out of the wall. My hubby thinks that the pullouts may be too heavy and that double stacked cans would fall over. He thinks we should go with drawers. Does anyone have any experience with the pullout pantries?

Suekat, is this the kind of pull out pantry you mean? If so, some of the posters above were confused. I don't have a large pull out like this, but I have a small one. Things do not fall over. Make sure the shelves are adjustable so you don't have to stack cans.

You do have enough counter space to the left of the stove because you have plenty to the right of it. If your plan to add the pantry maintains that counter space, it is fine.

You aren't actually pulling the entire pantry out, just slide-outs. With proper design, nothing falls over. However, there is already inadequate counter space to the left of the stove. It would be good to move the fridge down to the end, add some counter space, and try to find room for a pantry elsewhere.

It's a very small kitchen and there really isn't any room anywhere else to move the pantry to. I just thought aesthetically, the pantry surrounding a counter depth fridge would look best. Just not sure it would function best. I do plan on stacking cabinets to the ceiling all around and adding two toe kick drawers for extra storage.

If the space is narrow, it becomes very awkward to use pull out drawers. And if items are light or stacked they tend to fall over the drawer and get stuck behind. I'm not a fan.

Not a fan of pull out pantries. Can't you put pantry where you have upper and lowers by sink? As suggested, move fridge to where pantry is currently and gain more counter space next to the stove.

I have Ikea pullout pantries in my kitchen and I love them I never have trouble with stuff falling over and they are much better use of space than a door and drawers. The 2 pics show the 2 diffrent ones from Ikea I have the one on the left.

What did you decide to do, the pantry or the drawers? I would love to know as we are trying to decide the same thing.

We haven't started the project yet, but have decided to go with the drawers.
