Hi everybody, this is my first time asking a question here.

Anyways, I am currently installing new laminate flooring throughout my main floor (family, dining, and living room). The home originally had maple wood laminate and carpet combo. The old laminate was also installed on top of old vinyl (?) flooring in the kitchen area. I was originally going to do new laminate all throughout but after reading some horrow stories online, I'm having second thoughts. My question is what type and color do you think would look good in my kitchen?

Keep in mind that the cabinets are staying and I have future plans to change the countertop to a darker (black maybe) granite top. The second picture is shown from the kitchen entry to the new laminate (Flaxen) in the dining/living room.
