Need Help: Engineered Hardwood or Real Hardwood
January 6, 2013 in Design Dilemma
We're remodeling our main level (Kitchen, Dining, Family Room, Office, Small Half Bath) and have decided on hardwood floors (they are currently a mix of old hardwoods and carpet). I've been researching for months and keep getting mixed opinions on flooring. We know we want the darker tones, no red tone, we don't care so much which species just not too busy. Our style is ever changing but if I had to pick one style I really like it's Craftsman. We have teen kids and one large dog who is mostly outdoors but visits in the evenings. What I really need to know are the benefits and drawbacks to Real vs. Engineered. The space we're covering is approx. 1000 sf. Our budget is tight but we are hiring this part out as installing flooring does not fit into my skill set :) Any help or pictures would be appreciated.
