The pine is 1x6 tongue-and-groove, very common (the knotty grade is less expensive than the clear or clear heart grades), available at any retail lumber yard carrying finished products (as opposed to Home Depot, which mostly carries only rough framing in their lumber section) The lower wainscot is called "beadboard", same species, same finish. I specified the finish as "white wash, diluted 1:3" which lessens the amount of pigment left on the surface, but takes out most of the yellow tone of the pine, and lightens it. The contractor typically referred to the finish as "pickling", which is a slightly different product. I still think it is, in fact, my spec, because the pickling usually has a different undertone. The finish mill products outlet will be able to show you the difference between white wash and pickling.
