Ugly Bubble texture on wall

I'm painting my mother's bedroom and bath myself. It has the textured paint - hard bubbles type - she doesn't care but I so. Is there an easy way to smooth it out w/o sanding?

Something like that happened to me once. A professional said it was from not cleaning the wall properly before painting. He said to pierce each bubble and sand each bubble lightly and re-paint.

Thanks. This is the type of "on purpose" texture where they spray the wall rather than hand paints I think. The whole wall would have to be sanded. I thought maybe I could hand plaster over it or something

Google "smoothing textured paint".

Here R 2 articles I found. I sounds like a dusty, horrible job. If your Mom is OK with the textured, I think I'd stick with the old texture.
