Help! I need to decide on a floor stain color!
January 14, 2013 in Design Dilemma
Hello, I just purchased a 1928 Colonial and I need to decide on a floor stain color this week! My contractor will be using Minwax oil based stain and so far I like Red Chestnut and Golden Pecan. I know they are two very different shades. I will test sample a few more colors today. I love the floor colors in this house but not quite sure what colors they may be. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

If you use any flooring with a definite color tone (reddish, yellowish, for instance), it's going to limit the color scheme of walls/furniture, etc. One of the reasons people use oak, walnut, etc. Make sure your choice will go with your overall color scheme. Then go with it!
