please help me decorate my master!
wenwhaJanuary 18, 2013
I have had this duvet and my room painted for over a year. I can never decide on anything at the store.... accessories, drapes, lamps, etc. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated! I was going for a chic beachy look, if that makes sense.

The duvet is from Pottery barn, it is the sienna paisley. I do have 2 inch blinds on the window, was thinking of maybe doing something light and airy on the sides of the windows.

If you could post pictures of the pieces you have and the room it would really help.

If you like a beachy-light-airy feel, go with that!! The colors you have already are beautiful. If you want to go bolder, use the greenish color from your duvet for the curtains, then use sheer panels also to add some dimension. If you want to go safer, use a cream/white color curtains.

You obviously are a fan of Pottery Barn, and since you already have dark wood furniture, choose lighter accessories. Any type of art above the bed should be light or reflective.

You definitely should have a large mirror opposite the window.

It looks like you also have some room for a bench or ottoman at the foot of your bed. That would be a great place to introduce another color if you want to add some more interest.

Hard to see the windows from your pic, but you could go with either panels floor to ceiling with rod or a fabric roman over your 2" blinds. You could do color block drapes using the green/gold and the pale blue ....the green gold for about 21" on the bottom of the drape, the light blue for the top part.

add woven wood shades and side panels to your window .A Sand color would be nice for the drapes.

Larger night stands with taller lamps ( if you can find one lamp that has a driftwood color base that would add to the beach feeling.

Look for a large piece of art work or a framed wrought iron piece to hang over the bed.

Those are good places to start.

I like the Pottery barn Pierce lamp and the antique mercury ones. I think either would be striking with your duvet.

Thanks for the ideas! I love the idea of mercury glass lamps! I never thought about doing any color than white on the windows. Does the furniture seem to be arranged okay? I do have room for a bench great idea too! Now just to find one.... What do you think of this for over the bed?

A Roman Shade would look really good in that window it will also give you the Room darkening you need for a bed room.
