What kind of wood is around the tub and shower?
Zenique DesignsJanuary 18, 2013
We just used IPE on a project and it looks like this and it is beautiful. I know it is one of the hardest woods available but wanted to see if this was what was used here.

In addition, you can't see from the image, but the shower is actually separate from the tub. A stand up, roomy shower is just around the wall.

It is a dense rot resistant wood from South America that is often used in outdoor applications. Good luck!

Thank you so much for the IPE wood affirmations. I have just spec'd it for a clients outdoor range hood cover. In teaching my client hat the beauty is in the understated elegance and longevity of the wood. They have fallen in love with the piece. Longevity being that it will withstand any of the heat thrown from the BBQ and pizza oven as it is at 6'8" up.
