Would painting my entry look silly? How would I go about this?
My entire first floor is an open plan all with light tan walls. I have been thinking of painting the entry way in order to make it inviting yet separate from our sitting room. My color pallet in the sitting room is tan, black, white and red. I was thinking of painting the entry a shade of red to go with this pallet. The issue is- how would I go about this as every wall flows together. There is no 'divider' between the sitting room and entry- there is a partial wall although no where to stop one paint color and go to the next - see first pic. I was thinking maybe of adding a line of trim? Any feedback would be awesome! Thanks.

houssaon I don't think painting any wall red in the entry is going to make it inviting. I think it will be quite jarring.

It is a relatively small area, which as the front door, a closet, and, I assume, a door to the garage.

What you could do is get outside mats to wipe the feet and remove the ones you have now. Then get one small colorful area rug - either a round one or a rectangle about 4 feet by six. A graphic pattern will draw the visitor in: A Swedish Influence, Global Living / Bluefish Home - Showroom or Entryway.

Put a nicer (and one with color) window treatment that fits inside the window. Remove the pictures from the window sill and put some framed and matted ones on the wall by the garage door. Center the bench under the window.

Harrut Hi
Ok here is a "crazy!" idea.... You might get away with painting the two walls a dark green... This would be in keeping with the wood already in situ. Paint the wood door trims white, and stretching my neck out, I'd be tempted to paint the two doors white too.... That might offer you the change you are looking for ....
