Matching exiting wood flooring

arm2002January 20, 2013
We have a darker oak wood 3" width flooring in all of house except bedrooms which are off the hallway. Existing wood floors have been down 10+ years. We need to replace carpet in bedrooms and want to replace w/wood- rather than a futile attempt to match we are thinking a lighter shade of oak in a 5 " width. Thoughts on this? Thanks. Arm2002

Futile? If it was done it can be again. Are you trying to avoid refinishing the rest of the house?
