Need advice on replacing kitchen sink

We currently have a ceramic top mount sink with granite counter tops. I really want a under mount silgranite sink but I have been told that I will not be able to do this because the granite is cut for top mount sink. I would have to replace the counter tops in order to achieve this. So I am willing to go with a top mount silgranite sink. Any advice and do I contact a plumber to see if the sink I purchase will fit?

When I was redoing my kitchen I read tons of reviews on sinks. Those "granite" sinks are prone to cracking when a pot is dropped on them and were not recommended by CR. If you get one do consider a rack for the bottom.

I wonder if an under mount stainless steel would work? I had a friend with a black sink. She replaced it as she said it always looked dirty, even water spots would mark it.

That looks great! Did you just get it done and how are you liking it? I have an undermount black sink in my granite and I would lov to change it out - but I'm not changing the countertops. I wonder if I could do this? You've definitely got me thinking!

Yes, we just had it done. We have had a undermount silgranit sink in vacation rentals before and loved them. I would definitely recommend an undermount one though. We did not have the option because our granite was already cut for a top mount sink. I am wondering if the edges are going to get a beating from every day wear and tear? I am not sure if I would recommend a silgranit sink if you cook with heavy pots (cast iron) unless you are very careful. It is definitely not as strong as the cast iron sink we had before! We tried to order online and 2 came in damaged in shipping.
