I need help deciding how to spiff up the outside of my 1980 "tudor" look house. I just bought it and I like the color of the brick, but I am not sold on the dark brown, so would like color options. The existing plaster and tudor boards are in excellent condition, but I will be getting a new roof and gutters at some point. I did already remove the 30 yr older evergreens and will be planting new landscape in the spring.
decoenthusiaste Search the box above under Photos. Put in Tudor colors and you'll see alternative ways to change the current trim and paint on your house. You could just remove the dark wood trim around the upper windows, put up horizontal siding and replace the posts supporting the overhanging roof to take the Tudor out of the equation. Good luck. Post results so we can see.
hwilliamson there is a mock tudor house near us where they've painted the brown boards a pale-ish warm grey. it looks fab.
perhaps replace the front door too with something that has a large panel of samd-blasted glass in the top half or at least paint the existing one to match the colour you paint the boards.
also paint the timber around the little projecting window to the right of the front door white or what ever colour you choose to paint the boards.
