Family room furniture for family

Help!!! We are in desperate need of enough seating to accommodate our family of 6. The room is 13'6" wide and 18ft long. I can't decide between a sectional or two sofas. I don't want to make a big purchase and then have regrets! We are also going to get a flat screen tv for the left corner. It needs to be on/in a cabinet that can be moved. We have a large Xmas tree that goes in that corner. ;)

All furniture can go!

We are challenged by the large sloped ceiling, huge left wall and wall of windows. The room is part of an open kitchen/dining/family space. All help is greatly appreciated!

Get a big sectional sofa. Put tv opposite where sofa is now. Get two leather chairs on either side of fireplace.
Get a round coffee table or big ottoman in front of sectional.

Sectional definitely, for extra seating you could float a couple of ottomans on the other side of a big coffee table or get a table that has them under it.

Agree totally with mamchers suggestion, some built ins to anchor the focal space of the fireplace would be nice too!

I am also voting for sectional.

Thanks everyone. I was leaning towards a sectional but didn't want to make a huge mistake. What do I do with the large 18 ft long wall??? It's been blank for two years because I have no idea what to do with it!

I agree with mamachers as well. Switch the TV to the big blank wall. Then your fireplace will be the focal point of the room.

I agree....Switch your TV to the large blank wall....purchase a large cozy sectional, coffee table ottoman with a large sisal rug....colorful pillows, accessories and artwork. That will enhance your beautiful wood floors. And take the blinds off the window to open up the room. Good luck....you've got great bones. :-)

HI -- Paint the room and the ceiling one color . Vaulted ceiling rooms look better in all one color . Get a modular square sectional and one or two swivel chairs . Place the TV on the big wall with a wall system of cabinets and shelves ( Ikea ?) The TV wall could have an accent color if you like . Get a new fire screen or heat paint the brass one .You could also paint the fireplace brick too if you wish . Full length drapes wall to wall with under blinds .Then add some art and lamps , table and floor styles . Keep the room simple with clean line furniture and accents for an easy care up to date family room.

My living room is similar to yours with only 1 set of windows.
I'd but the TV opposite the windows!
