I am remodeling a townhouse bathroom and I would like to put hardwood floors in the bathroom. Is this a really bad idea?

For an adult room we have installed hardwoods with no issues. I have seen comments from others where there have been problems. If in doubt, you can always use the porcelain tile that looks like hardwood.

It also depends on the moisture and the geography location of your house. Older homes typically have hardwood floor in the bathrooms.

I would go for the long as you don't have little children that love to take splashy baths.
