Fireplace, gas or wood burning?

amyfitz45January 30, 2013
Hi, is that a direct vent fireplace? If so, who is it made by Town & Country, Heat & Glo or Lennox? What is the size? Thanks so much!

I am planning on installing a gas fireplace and have some ideas on how to get started but would like detailed instructions on how to frame it in before I purchase a firebox. If anyone has any instructions on how to frame one please let me know. Thanks

Do you used this fireplace often with the TV on? Is it safe? What's the distance from the fireplace to the TV?

This is a sealed gas fireplace, I do not know the brand or size, this was finalized between the contractor and client. But, I would guess that this is a 36" wide unit and the TV is used all the time with the fireplace running. you need to follow the manufacturers specifications and work with a general contractor to build this on-site

this looks like a Heat-n-Glo TRUE model fireplace. They are beautiful and come down to the floor like a "real" fireplace - you need room to place the gas plumbing and control units on the side, so you need approx 68" wide space. It's direct vent, of course. The opening is 45" wide x 36" high. No blower but you don't need it because of high BTUs. Many hot features like backlight LEDs and embers so you can avoid that "dark hole" look during your summer evening parties!

The fireplace unit looks like an Isokern (EarthCore). We are installing now. You can burn gas logs or wood. The larger Magnum series are 42" width. You select the firebrick and pattern so it is customized to your preferences.
