Thank you for the kind words.
The backsplash is indeed painted-back black glass.

I'm so glad to hear that it is glass; painted black. I really went through a liteny of materials to decide what to put behind my stove/cooktop range. I've seen the back painted glass before and liked it because it seems easy to clean and adds yet another material and texture to the kitchen design without making it "too busy". Thank you. Classy look, yes?!

Just make sure it is tempered, if it is going behind the range...

Thank you. What other materials do you feel good about besides glass? (I avoided stainless steel - as I'm told it shows everything and hard to keep clean. Tile / grout pretty but - also not as easy to keep clean as glass.

How about just going with the counter material, all the way up, behind the range?

Great suggestion.....I thought of that too. However (my cabinets are white Euro contemporary - high shine) I've selected a very high $$$ granite and I thought the cost of the painted glass (although I know the tempered, back painted glass isn't "cheap"......it's likely less than the granite). The granite is "honed" and sealed; and, I thought the glass would be easier to clean and maintain. What say you? (Thank you by the way!)

I agree - glass is IT!

Your the best! Thank you for brainstorming with me.
By the way.....depending on whether I get to use a resin product I "fell in love with" for my backsplash (which will add some texture from underneath not on the surface), I felt the glass will give a "smooth, shine" texture.
If I can't do the resin.....again if it's too $$.....then perhaps I put the glass on the backsplash (with color and texture on the underside) AND use it going up behind the stove/cooktop range as well. Have a great weekend! Thanks very much.
