Need Help with interior doors
February 1, 2013 in Design Dilemma
Hi. We are changing out hollow light oak colored interior doors with solid core painted doors, but what color? Floors are cherry wood and molding around the doors will be the light oak (same as the old doors) I love the pictures with the black doors, but not sure. Our house is an open, but smallish ranch style. Thanks!

I would paint the trim around the doors and baseboards. If the doors were hollow core the trim is probably ranch casing and nothing special. Keeping the trim a different color will attract attention to the trim instead of to the doors. If they are 3 panel or 6 panel doors, the doors will be far more attractive than the trim. The nicest thing would be to put new colonial painted casing around the doors but that's much more work.
