Need help with tiny master bathroom
February 2, 2013 in Design Dilemma
My master bath is very tiny. There are closets on both sides with the sin/vanity, shower and toilet at the end. I want to open up the toilet area a bit so it isn't so claustrophobic, and give the whole area an update.

If you are considering changing walls, measure the maximum space over all so that you may consider all possible options. Many master bathrooms remodels decrease conventional closet space to gain main 'elbow room'. Typically a good closet space maximizing design can make up for the lost physical closet space.

I was actually thinking about reducing the closet on the right hand side to about half and then putting storage shelves on the "new" wall facing the toilet area...I think that would give a bit more space and still have storage.
I also would like to take out whole vanity and put in a pedstal sink instead. Any thoughts about that?
Would you change the shower?
What might I do with the window in the shower? Stained glass perhaps??

vanity out , pedestal sink in - agreed 100%, i would get rid off all these doors and work around to gain as much space as posiible for a new shower and toilet area, i'm sure there is enough room to built some storage cabinets or small built in unit :)))

If you are willing to give up storage space for improving the bathroom, why not leave the floorplan the same and get rid of the vanity and toilet topper? Right now, the vanity feels like it overpowers the space and the storage is all selected for functionality, not visual appeal.

You could also compromise by inserting a storage cabinet into the closet wall and stealing space without actually moving walls and relocating plumbing
