When you say "partition", do you mean more than the archways we see in the photo? More closed off? Walled off? Or screened off?

For screening I recommend a couple of columns 4' apart and flanking glass front cabinets as built ins. Your arches are great and I hate to mess them up, so walling off? No opinion...which is in a way my opinion!

I haven't figured out yet how to post photos directly from houzz to a forum yet (any help?) but the colonnade with bookshelves or curio cabinets is a common idea in the arts and crafts homes. Painted it can be very traditional in style. For more modern...doesn't work so good for the archways, I'm back to no opinion!

Arches and partitions.. Difficult combination.. I'd hang a large off-white curtain.

why do you want them partitioned?? You could put tall potted plants on either side inside the arch area. Beautiful rugs also help define rooms. Good luck!

We need more clarification. Do you want permanent separation or partial division ?

An "old fashioned" way to separate spaces was a writing desk/table with two lamps on either side of the desk This would sit between the two spaces like a 1/2 wall. Visually you would focus on the nearest point and then, afterwards realize that the space continued on into another "room". Think long rooms in large houses (Buckingham Palace...without the Palace).
