We need help with fireplace?

We are renovating my childhood home to sell and have a very tight budget for the fireplace. Any ideas?

I'd also like to get an opinion on the mid century decorator poles as well?

Change out rhe brick w stone and go up to the ceiling. As for the posts... Lose them. I'd u need support, then use some sort of column.

As you are renovating to sell perhaps consider replacing the posts with display shelving open to both sides. Fireplace I would leave and give a coat of paint to freshen it up and just replaster the rest of the wall

Clean up the brick, maybe a good scrubbing might do the trick or repaint them. If you can afford it, reface it with stone or even a large porcelain tile and drywall above the mantel. Lose the posts, if possible. Are they just decorative? or structural?

Thank you for the comments! The posts may be structural. Thought we would try to design around them?

Tried to clean the fireplace with tsp and bleach but didn't do a whole lot. Any other ideas on cleaning concrete bricks?

If you are on a tight budget I'd paint the bricks, drywall over the fireplace and get a ready made mantel kit off Amazon or the Depot. I highly doubt the posts are load bearing. Take them out to open up ther space.
