Need Kitchen Advice! Help! :))
Just bought a house...the current kitchen has beautiful cream cabinets (which I LOVE) but dark countertops and pulls (which I kinda hate). I really want to replace current countertops and pulls with something similar to the last picture BUT I'm afraid if I do that the whole kitchen will be too white on white on white. Any advice?? The floors are Travertine. Do I have to change floor wood or can the tile be stained darker?? Help :)

DIAspoton very nice kitchen. the paint color seems to be fighting the floor. maybe repainting, picking up the darkest shade of taupe from the floor would tie it all together. add a couple of small black rugs.

adm1002 Thanks so much! Tarey, what color would you make the island? And what would you do for the countertops? Thanks again for the great input. :))

cheryl2424 I like the knobs because of the metal work on the hood and the light fixtures. I like the floor too. Make your counter the darkest shade from the floor tile. And yes the island needs some creativity, cornices or those scrolls bits the designers add.

cms9323 I would paint the kitchen a gray-green color. Like BM grant beige. It looks like your granite has some of that in it.

Elise I like your kitchen a lot. Your cabinet pull choice is elegant, perhaps you would enjoy a darker color on the wall that would set off the beautiful white cabinets?

Can you send a picture of your actual countertop so we can see the actual color striations? Look closely at the countertops you have and pull out a color from them that you like. Use that as a background wall color.

Your floors are beautiful and expensive. Since you just bought the house, live with them for a year and then decide what you want to do. To keep the light flowing in your kitchen you need some reflective surfaces like the floor, since the countertops are dark.

mveasey Beautiful kitchen!
I think the problem here is actually just your island. Your "surround" pieces look very classy/traditional with the cream and the black counter. The island however is a vertical teak/ boat interior looking piece, which has its merits as well, but together looks wrong. I would do a cream matching island with some beautiful trim to match the rest of your kitchen and do the countertop of your choice there first. If you could find a stone top that has a little darker/blackish veining or some speckles it would go wonderfully with the existing black countertops on your perimeter cabinets.

TGM & Cabi's Delicatus Granite. It's stunning with these colors. It's base is cream white. It's an exotic with lines of grey, blue, brown. It'll keep the dark that you see in the current countertop and at the same time pull in warm tones. We use it all the time on white and off white cabinets for that very reason. It will pull in the island.

I'd consider just leaving the floor and adding a backsplash - playing with the darker tones you find in the delicatus granite that you locate. There is ibe over the oven. Was there one around the room besides that? If so, it's blurred with the lack of depth in the room. Definitely will need a new color around the room will change that lack of depth significantly.

Paint the room in a grey green to pull in warmth and pull out the grey green in the granite, you'll find. So, I agree with CSMS. It' will just be warmer. The yellow makes it dingy not bright in this room.

Yes, change the hardware.
No, it's not the island (once you change the countertop and color of the room).
