Painting wainscoting

February 6, 2013 in Design Dilemma
I currently have wainscoting on my family room wall that was stained and varnished 24 years ago. It goes up almost half way up the wall. To update it I was thinking of painting it white... Any suggestions or ideas??

What did you decide to do with the wainscoting? I'd love an update.

I would recommend removing completely (if that is an option)

You can paint it white, however, the grain of the wood will show through. I would recommend a semi gloss that will have a bit of sheen and clean up well.
