I like this afterthought photo..I like it because I am not a fan of great contrast on the exterior of a home. It's simple and distinguished.

I like the grey with red....but what about black shutters with red or green door? Those might look nice too.

I love the 1st one with the burgundy. But it really is a matter of personal preference. I think it ties in the color of the door well. Black looks like its too stark. Good luck with your choice.

Barbara, I also like the simpleness of the gray shutters. I have never seen gray on a tan/beige house though but it is appealing to me. I defintely prefer a less modern look and feel the darker shutters are more modern. I kind of like the white too but my husband is not a fan.

I like the black with the white trim. I'm not seeing grey against tan.

If money allows, I would build a portico as the focal point for this house and do some landscaping. The house front lacks a focal point.

If no plan for a portico, I would paint a bold bright yellow-green as a focal point. The green will work well with the color of the shutter.

The charcoal grey is a nice contrast, black is too harsh, but need a pop of colour for the front door.

Thank you. Eventually we hope to add a portico or porch but it is not in the budget right now. We move in next week and will definitely be landscaping. I want to somehow have the outside match if at all possible with my decorating inside which is primitive country.

I like the last one with lighter grey shutters but tone down the silver by adding some brown. Check out the Naturally Neutral Collection Earth tones from Benjamin Moore

I'm a traditionalist so black with a red door. As a second choice gray. I vote "no" on the green.

I meant to continue with why I prefer no shutters on your home. There are so many to begin with and when you put shutters on a lovely home like yours, you want the real thing, not vinyl that will probably not be sized correctly anyway. Twelve authentic shutters would be an expensive investment. Try painting the window trim and different color, at least on one, and see if you like it.

Judy, Thank you for your input. I also have that picture saved and love the look of no shutters. I am not sure if there is enough trim around the windows to actually paint but will definitely look into it.

It's very difficult to determine the colour of your siding and roof. The roof looks to be gray and the siding a light tan. I would take the shutters 2 - 3 shades darker than the siding and then make the front door a focal point, either in a very dark grey or a dark red. The current colour of the shutters is too orange and detracts from the overall effect. I'd also make your front porch/stoop larger and remove the shrub from in front of your windows to open up your front. Also change the colour of the lattice between the shutters on the garage end to match the siding so they don't tie into the shutters. Change the lights on either side of your entrance to black as well for more of a focal point.

Good luck, you have a lovely traditional style home!

Black shutters look the most high end in my opinion. I would look at the wood look shutters rather than the panel perhaps. I think a black door would look good also. For resale I think it would be a non taste specific color. Good luck!
