Design Styles : Italian and French
February 7, 2013 in Design Dilemma
Hi! What is the difference between the styles of Italian and French design? I can sometimes tell a difference due to the use of metal for many Italian designs and yellow for French Country designs (but I may be wrong about that).

Maybe a trip to the bookstore or library to look at style books? There are many smaller divisions within each countries style references. The Doge's Palace in Venice looks nothing like a Tuscan villa...or a Roman one for that matter. Likewise a French farmhouse looks nothing like a chateau or the Chartres Cathedral. But the are all French or Italian. Because they are in the relatively small area of Europe and style influences there are centuries old, they do have elements in common. With really big regional differences!

I have some books on Italian design, you are right that each region is different. I guess my question was one of those..."hmm..." type questions. Don't know why I didn't think the same about French design. When I think of French design, French Country always comes to mind. I should expand my viewing on Houzz. :)
