Need help knowing where to find professionals in Barn Renovations.
Have a huge barn from 1800's...would love to renovate if possible into a home..would like to have a consultant take a look and see what the possibilities would/could be vs cost and design options....OR if not fiscally viable...then resources to sell the wood to soomeone who would put it to a use in their own building project.
Interiors International, Inc. How cool, well first we need to get an engineer to check the feasibility and integrity of the building. If it is structurally sound than we are on the way. An architect will be the next person a long with a designer(ME ;-) maybe?) once a plan is together we then send it out to 3 builders and get their bids. If you have a reasonable concept of what your budget will be this will be very easy.
I would truly love to work with you on this project.
If the barn isn't sound than I know of a few company's that will buy it. They will then sell the wood for reuse.
Interiors International, Inc. It is rather inexpensive considering the importance. I really would love to do this project with you. I have an architect and engineer that work with me on these projects.
Ironwood Builders It's hard to quote costs for us here on Houzz. Local scale is local and we are national or international. Call a few local structural engineers and get a quote for hourly rates and get a feel for their cost structure. You can google the listings for structural engineers in your area.
sam0705 I'm not sure how upstate you are, but "party barns" are a big thing in vacation homes in Columbia County. You may want to google barn renovations in that area and see if they are near you or can travel.
upstategirl18 thank you all for such valuable input and I now have some tools in which to gain more information and research as how I will proceed....I had a person offer to buy the barn for the wood but then he wantedhto bury any debris by digging a hole on my property! My comment to him was that I could not believe his lack of concern for the environment....he countered with how much it costs to remove debris and that if I was not willing to do it his way then debris removal comes off the top of the price offered for the barn wood....ugh!
I have gotten more genuine answers and great tools to move forward here than any place or person and I thank you all.....and will definitely keep posting as a proceed. International Interiors do your engineers have an hourly rate? or a flat rate?
